Welcome to ELA! My name is Miss Caen and I am the new 7th Grade ELA teacher. This is my first year teaching at a Franklin Academy.
A few things about me...
A few things about me...
- I am originally from Long Island, New York. I moved to South Florida in September of 2013 and began my teaching career in Palm Beach County immediately upon arriving.
- I received my Bachelors from the University of Hartford in Special Education and Integrated Elementary Education with a concentration in Interdisciplinary Behavioral Studies. After a few years, I finally decided to get my Master's degree. I will be walking in May of 2019 to collect my Master's of Professional Studies in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University.
- I rescued my DOGhter, Batty, in 2015. She is a pit bull and the biggest cuddle bug ever.
- I was a former Division I soccer player. After college I played a little amateur soccer in New York. Additionally, I was a former amateur boxer.
- After tearing my knees to shreds and having multiple knee surgeries, I decided it was best to just stick to coaching. I currently coach two sports at the High School level. Girls Varsity Soccer and Girls Junior Varsity Lacrosse.
- With all of that being said, I am a big sports fan. I love the New York Giants, through the good, the bad, and the ugly. I am also a New York Yankees, and Brooklyn Nets fan.
- I just recently became a Universal Annual Passholder and a Disney Passholder. I'm so excited to spend down time at the parks!
- Lastly, I enjoy traveling. Over the summer I was lucky enough to study in Barcelona, Spain through Georgetown. Luckily this afforded me the opportunity to spend my summer break vacationing through Europe. In the last few years I've been to been Tel Aviv, Sicily, London, Barcelona and the Canary Islands. I was able to visit so many beautiful places and experience the different cultures of each of those cities.
